Carolyn Guigli

M. Carolyn Guigli passed away on Tuesday, September 10 at 12:30 a.m. She will go to her eternal life with her husband Bill who preceded her in death in 2007.

Carolyn was born December 30, 1929 in Hepburn, Iowa and was one of seven children of Mattie and Charles Winter. She graduated from Clarinda High School and went on to get her degree in teaching. Carolyn taught elementary school for three years and also was a substitute teacher in Madrid, Iowa. She was a secretary for Madrid Schools for 30 years.

Carolyn was a member of St. Malachy’s Church in Madrid where she volunteered at church luncheons. She was also active in volunteering at the Madrid Schools and Greater Love. She loved working in the concession stand at the football games. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Madrid Booster Club. For 40 years, Carolyn and Bill enjoyed sitting on the bleachers attending all the school activities their children and grandchildren participated in.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Libbi, Vancouver, WA, Dana (Skip), Adel, IA, Marty (Chuck), Madrid, IA, Carol, Attica, IA, and John (Diane), Shawnee, KS; ten granddaughters and one grandson, also five great- granddaughters and 16 great-grandsons.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Bill, daughter Mary, granddaughter Lindsey, and great-granddaughter Rylee.

A private ceremony at Mt. Hope Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Guigli family. The gifts will then be used to show appreciation to the great staff at the Madrid Home.
