House fire claims life of Madrid resident

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, at approximately 1:41 a.m., the Madrid Fire Department was paged and subsequently responded to a reported structure fire on the 400 block of E. 9th Street within the city limits of Madrid. The incident resulted in a civilian fatality.

The Madrid Fire Department was assisted by Madrid Police Department, Woodward Fire Department, Slater Fire Department, Boone Fire Department, Boone County EMS, Boone County Search and Rescue, Boone County Sheriff, and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s office.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s office.
