James Mallon

  James Richard Mallon, 79, of Slater, Iowa, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s disease surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, December 11th, 2023.

  He was born in Keokuk, Iowa in 1944 to Norwood and Virginia Mallon and raised in Keokuk. Jim attended Keokuk High School before studying business at the University of Iowa, later settling in Slater and retiring from South Story Bank & Trust. 

 Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Woody & Virginia, sister, Janice Blackburn, and is survived by his wife, Barbara Mallon, children Allison (Mike), Brady (Jennifer) and Casey (Stacie), 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. 

  Funeral service is Tuesday, December 19th at 11:00am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, Iowa with lunch and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Slater Area Historical Association and/or Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
