Rovena Marie Roberts, age 90

Rovena Marie Roberts, age 90, passed away on July 13, 2021 her home in Madrid, Iowa.

Rovena was born on March 17, 1931 to Oscar and Viola (Lindahl) Pearson in Boone, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Boone schools. Rovena was united in marriage with Edwin Roberts on September 5, 1949. They then created a home and raised a family in the Madrid area. She also worked at the Woodward State Hospital and then the Madrid Home for twenty years.

Rovena enjoyed sitting on her deck and admiring her flowers and the peacefulness of the farm. She always looked for the beauty of something every day. At the end of the day, she loved watching the sunset. Her family was of great importance to her and she cherished every moment she spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin (May 1999), three infant sons, Larry, Jeff and Gary, a daughter Joyce Roberts, a great-granddaughter Jasmine, two brothers Marlin “Mort” Pearson and Marlowe Pearson, one sister Rogene Handlon, one half-brother Dick Pearson and one half-sister Lorraine Browning.

Rovena is survived by her children; Mark (Cheryl) Roberts of Madrid, Iowa, David (Kim) Roberts of Zearing, Iowa, Linda (Chris Lund) Shaw of Marshalltown, Iowa, Carolyn (Jeff) Warren of Boone, Iowa, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, one brother Marvin “Butch” Pearson of Boone Iowa, and three sisters Rozella “Rosie” Wilcox, Marilyn Ryan, and Roseanna “Zan” Kraft all of Boone, Iowa.
Public visitation is on Sunday, July 18 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Sundberg Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid, Iowa.  Funeral services are on Monday, July 19 at 1:00 p.m. also at the Sundberg Kirkpatrick Chapel. Burial will take place at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.
