Madrid sees incumbents retain positions, school’s public measure pass

Tuesday saw local citizens take part in their local elections across Boone County as Madrid and the surrounding communities took part in their civic duty.

All results are unofficial and will be canvassed and accepted at next week’s Boone County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Lane Shaver retained his position as a city council member at large after getting 186 votes. There were 35 write-in votes at the same position. Jeff Gibbons won the Ward 1 vote after getting 49 and there were also six write-ins. Marvin Ostrander will be the representative for Ward 3 after earning 75 votes, and there two write-in votes

The Madrid School board saw 548 total votes as Allie Antonovich and Chelcie Badgley retained their positions on the board. Antonovich earned 238 votes and Badgley 190. Christina Grabill also ran and had 116 votes, and there were four write-ins.

The Madrid vote for the SAVE fund passed 259-40.

In other area votes, Joe Tryon won the Luther mayor race, picking up all 18 votes as he ran unopposed. The Luther city council seats saw three racing for two spots as Malore Schaller and Bob Owens each got 16 votes to get the seats while Margaret Wilczak had two votes.
