Kristine Geneser

Kristine Sue Geneser, 70, of Madrid passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the Dallas County Hospital.

Kris was born April 22, 1952, in Ames, IA, daughter of Leo F. and Esther (Hickman) Jones. She grew up on farms in Maxwell, Farrar, Colo, and Ames area and graduated from United Community Schools in 1970. Following graduation Kris worked for Black’s Seed Corn Company in Ames where she met and developed lifelong friendships with ladies from Madrid.

Kris was united in marriage to Bill Geneser on June 28, 1975, and they made their home in Granger until 1979 then moved to Madrid. She managed BJ’s Lounge in Madrid for over 20 years and the VFW for two years. She cherished the lifelong friends she made in these jobs. She was also Co-President of the Madrid Booster Club in the early 90s.

Kris loved fishing with her good friend Honey White and especially the 20-member family summer vacations at Rush Lake in Minnesota. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards with her grandkids, her cats, and any puppies, watching NASCAR, gardening, cooking, canning, bowling, softball, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jerry Jones, and Craig Jones.

Survivors include her husband Bill, one son James Geneser of Madrid, two grandchildren, Macy and Parker Geneser and a sister Kay Brooke of Story City, IA and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday also at the church. Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at the Beaver Catholic Cemetery Granger
