Duane Lee Anderson

Duane Lee Anderson, of rural Madrid, died Friday, March 25. He was 73.

Graveside services will be held in May.

Duane was born to Maurice and Elanor (Lee) Anderson of Huxley on January 24, 1949.

Duane grew up in Hulxley and following graduation, he served in the United States Army. He provided for his family as an over-the-road truck driver, logging over 6 million miles, working for several companies before owning and operating his own semi.

Duane loved camping, tractor pulls, collecting coins and spending time with his friends and the community in Mission, Texas. He loved to spend time with his friends at the VFW in Madrid, Iowa.

Duane is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Claudia; daughters Theresa Robertson (Minneapolis), Kelli Ryan (Altoona), Robin Lande (Des Moines), Tammy Mahlendorf (Omaha, NE), and Marcia Holub (Mesa, AZ); son Ricky Ryan (Des Moines); sister Darlene (Charles) Buche; brother Don (Cindy Fleener) Anderson; and brother in-law Melvin Vetter; 15 grandchildren; 1 Great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents, sister Janice Vetter and late wife Linda (Santee) Anderson.
