Charles White, 95

Charles (Toad) White, 95, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.  Toad was born April 11, 1925.  He was a lifelong resident of Madrid, IA.  

Toad served in the US Navy in WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart.  As a Veteran, he was a loyal member of the VFW Post 5060, serving in many positions, including Commander.

After retiring for Firestone he enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren.  He was an avid walker and historian of the High Trestle Trail.  He loved all outdoor activities, gardening and nature.

He is survived by his 2 sons Dick White, Hotsprings, Arkansas, Jim (Sharon) White, Des Moines, Iowa, 3 daughters, Linda (Dode) White, Pam (Roger) Jagerson, Rose (Dave) Sheehan, all of Madrid.  Brothers Bob (Deloris) White, Toledo, Oregon, Jack (Claris) White, Prineville, Oregon. His Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of Nieces, Nephews and many friends.

Toad is preceded in death by his Wife Josie (Honey) White, his parents and 8 siblings.

At his request there will be no service and a family burial at a later date.

A fund has been established for a Memorial at the High Trestle Trail.  Contributions can be made in person or mailed to City State Bank, Madrid, IA,  c/o The Charles ‘Toad’ White Memorial Fund
